What is RentBud?

RentBud is an online platform that helps renters in Ontario create professional rental applications. Our service simplifies the application process by providing easy-to-use forms that generate polished PDF applications you can share with landlords and property managers.

How do I sign up?

Click the "Sign Up" button at the top of any page. You'll need to provide your email address, create a password, and enter your basic information. The process takes less than a minute, and you can start creating applications immediately with our free tier.

Is RentBud free to use?

Yes! We offer a free tier that allows you to create up to 1 rental applications with 30-day storage. For unlimited applications and extended features, we offer a Premium subscription for $9.99/month.

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No credit card is required for the free tier. You can create an account and start using RentBud without any payment information. We only ask for payment details if you choose to upgrade to Premium.

Creating Applications

How long does it take to create an application?

Most users complete their first application in 5-10 minutes. Once you've created your profile, subsequent applications take even less time since your personal information is automatically filled in.

Can I save my application as a draft?

Yes! You can save your application as a draft at any time and come back to complete it later. Drafts are stored for 30 days on the free tier and 12 months on Premium.

Can I edit an application after submitting it?

You can edit applications that are saved as drafts. Once you mark an application as "submitted," it becomes read-only to maintain a record of what was sent to landlords. However, you can always create a new application based on the same information.

Can I use the same application for multiple properties?

While you can't use the exact same application for multiple properties, you can easily create new applications by copying your information. Your personal details, employment info, and references are saved in your profile and automatically populate new applications.

What format is the application in?

Applications are exported as professional PDF documents that you can download, print, or email directly to landlords. The PDFs are formatted to look polished and include all the information landlords typically need.

Can I add documents like ID or pay stubs to my application?

Document upload is available for Premium subscribers. This feature allows you to attach supporting documents like photo ID, employment verification, and pay stubs to your applications.

What's included in the Premium subscription?

Premium includes:

How much does Premium cost?

Premium costs $9.99/month. We also offer an annual plan at a 20% discount, which brings the cost to $7.99/month (billed annually at $95.90).

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

Yes, you can cancel your Premium subscription at any time from your account settings. You'll continue to have Premium access until the end of your current billing period, after which your account will revert to the free tier.

What happens to my applications if I downgrade?

If you downgrade from Premium to Free, you'll still have access to all the applications you've created. However, you'll be limited to managing 1 active applications and your storage period will be reduced to 30 days for new applications.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. All payments are processed securely through our payment provider.

Do you offer refunds?

We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee for new Premium subscribers. If you're not satisfied with Premium within the first 7 days, contact our support team for a full refund.

Privacy & Security

Is my personal information secure?

Yes. We use bank-level encryption (SSL/TLS) to protect your data both in transit and at rest. Your personal information is stored on secure servers and is never shared with third parties without your explicit consent.

Who can see my rental applications?

Only you can see your rental applications in your account. Applications are only shared when you explicitly choose to download, print, or email them to landlords or property managers.

Do you verify my information?

We do not verify the information you provide in your applications. You are responsible for ensuring all information is accurate and truthful. Landlords may conduct their own verification processes.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes, you can delete your account at any time from your profile settings. When you delete your account, all your personal information and applications are permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

Do you run credit checks?

No, we do not run credit checks or access your credit information. You can optionally include your credit score in your application if you choose, but this is self-reported and not verified by us.

Technical Questions

What browsers are supported?

RentBud works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend using the latest version of your browser for the best experience.

Can I use RentBud on my phone or tablet?

Yes! RentBud is fully responsive and works on all devices including smartphones and tablets. You can create and manage applications from any device.

Do I need to download any software?

No downloads are required. RentBud is a web-based application that works entirely in your browser. You only need an internet connection to access your account.

Why can't I log in?

If you're having trouble logging in, try these steps:

  • Make sure you're using the correct email address
  • Check that Caps Lock is off
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Try resetting your password using the "Forgot Password" link
  • If issues persist, contact our support team

The PDF download isn't working. What should I do?

If you're having trouble downloading PDFs:

  • Make sure pop-ups are enabled for RentBud
  • Try a different browser
  • Check that you have enough storage space on your device
  • Contact support if the problem continues
